Why Asana notifications all blur together on a Mac

macOS plays one alert sound for every notification and only lets you switch an app's sound on or off — never change it. So a task someone just assigned you pings exactly like a routine status update, and the one that's actually waiting on you is easy to miss.

Asana makes it worse by design: follow a few busy projects and your Inbox fills with activity — comments, status changes, completed subtasks. All of it arrives with the same chime, so the assignment or the @mention that needs a real answer sits in the same anonymous pile as everything else.

What you can do without TrillMark

• Asana's notification settings. You can tune what lands in your Inbox and email, follow or unfollow individual projects and tasks, and turn desktop notifications on or off. This is the best lever for cutting noise — but it doesn't change how anything sounds on your Mac.
• My Tasks and Inbox. Asana separates work assigned to you from general activity inside the app, which helps when you go looking — but it does nothing for the sound of the notification that pulled you there.
• System Settings › Notifications › Asana. Toggle the sound on or off and pick banner vs. alert style — but there's no custom sound, and no way to make an assignment louder than a status change.
• A Focus. A macOS Focus can hold Asana back while you concentrate, but that hides the assignment rather than making it recognizable when it does come through.
