Why Trello notifications all sound the same on a Mac

macOS plays one alert sound for every notification and only lets you switch an app's sound on or off. So a card someone just assigned you, a due date arriving, and a routine “card moved to Done” all ping with the exact same chime.

Trello's model makes that noisy. Watch a board and you hear about activity across every card on it; the handful that are actually yours — assigned to you, @mentioning you, coming due — sit in the same undifferentiated stream as the rest.

What you can do without TrillMark

• Trello's notification settings. You can set how often you're notified (instantly, periodically, or never), choose desktop and email notifications, and watch or unwatch individual boards, lists, and cards. That controls what you hear about — but not how it sounds.
• Watching specific cards. Watching just the cards you care about narrows the flood, and it's worth doing — but every watched card still arrives with the same Mac alert sound.
• System Settings › Notifications › Trello. Toggle the sound on or off and choose the banner style — but there's no custom sound, and no way to make a due card louder than a card that simply moved.
• A Focus. A Focus can silence Trello while you work, but it hides the due-date nudge rather than making it stand out.
