Why ClickUp notifications all blur together on a Mac

macOS plays one alert sound for every notification and only lets you switch an app's sound on or off — never change it. ClickUp's Mac app posts a notification for whatever your settings allow — assignments, @mentions, comments, status changes, watchers — and every one of them lands with the same chime.

A busy Workspace makes it worse. The task that was just put in your name, and the one that came due an hour ago, sound exactly like a teammate closing out a subtask you were watching. So you either check the inbox constantly or tune the whole app out — and miss the one that was actually yours.

What you can do without TrillMark

• ClickUp's notification settings. ClickUp is unusually granular here — you can choose which events notify you on desktop, email, and mobile, and mute whole Spaces. This is the best lever for cutting noise, but it doesn't change how anything sounds on your Mac.
• System Settings › Notifications › ClickUp. Toggle the sound on or off and pick banner vs. alert — but there's no custom sound, and no way to make an assignment sound different from a status change.
• Shift noise to email or your phone. You can route the low-stakes events off your desktop entirely — but whatever still reaches your Mac shares that one chime.
• Do Not Disturb or a Focus. These quiet everything while you concentrate, but that hides the assignment rather than making it recognizable when it does come through.
