Hear a cha-ching on your Mac when your Shopify store sells

So an order reaches you as a sound you chose — the cha-ching, if you want it — the moment it lands, without keeping the admin open or waiting for your phone to buzz.

Clip the exact cha-ching you want from any recording — TrillMark plays your clip when a Shopify order lands.

Why you don't hear Shopify orders on a Mac

Shopify's order ping lives on your phone — the mobile app chimes when a sale comes in. But there's no Shopify app for the Mac, and while you're working at your desk with the phone face-down, an order announces itself with nothing at all.

The dependable desktop signal is the one Shopify already sends every time: the staff order-notification email. The trouble is that it lands in your mail app with the same chime as every newsletter and receipt — macOS plays one alert sound for everything and only lets you switch it on or off, never change it. A sale deserves better than sounding like the rest of your inbox.

What you can do without TrillMark

How TrillMark turns an order email into a cha-ching

TrillMark reacts to the banner your mail app already shows. Add Mail (or the mail app you use), and because TrillMark can read the notification's text, add a rule that fires only for orders — the text contains “order” or your store's name — so a sale gets its own sound while the rest of your inbox stays ordinary.

Then make the sound yours. Pick one of TrillMark's bundled tones, or clip the exact cha-ching you want from any recording — a few seconds is all it takes — and add a colored flash labeled with the app's name, so a sale registers even with the volume down.

It reads that text only on your Mac, only to decide how to react, and never sends it anywhere.

Set it up in about a minute

  1. In Shopify, open Settings › Notifications and add yourself as a staff recipient for new orders, so every sale emails your Mac.
  2. Open TrillMark and add Mail — or whichever app that address lands in.
  3. Add a rule that matches orders — the text contains “order” or your store's name — so newsletters and receipts don't trigger it.
  4. Give the rule your cha-ching — a bundled tone or a clip of your own — plus a colored flash so a sale registers even on mute.
  5. Turn off the system sound for Mail in Notification settings so you hear only the sound you chose.

Questions about Shopify

Can I get Shopify's cha-ching on my desktop?

Shopify's own cha-ching lives in the mobile app — there's no Shopify app for the Mac. The dependable desktop signal is the staff order-notification email, and TrillMark turns exactly that into a sound you chose: a rule that matches the order email plays your cha-ching, with a colored, labeled flash.

I read that address in Gmail in a browser — does this still work?

Yes. Add the browser instead of Mail and match your store's name or “order” in the rule, the same browser-source approach as our Gmail guide. The rule fires for order notifications, not everything the browser speaks for.

Will every marketing email set it off?

No — the rule only fires when the notification's text matches what you set, like “order” plus your store's name. Everything else in your inbox keeps its usual behavior. The text is read only on your Mac and never leaves it.
